Did you know that Portugal is home to Europe’s largest lithium reserves, a thriving innovation ecosystem, and some of the world’s leading green energy infrastructure? 

We are pleased to invite you to a working lunch on Monday, September 8, 2025, hosted by the World Trade Center Kansas City, in collaboration with the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) and the Embassy of Portugal in Washington, D.C. This lunch will feature the Ambassador of Portugal to the United States, Francisco Duarte Lopes, and the Director of the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency in Chicago and Economic Counselor at the Embassy, Mário Quina. 

Over lunch, the Ambassador will share Portugal’s perspective on current transatlantic economic priorities and highlight how Portugal is positioning itself as a strategic partner for U.S. companies in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, clean energy, life sciences, and technology. The goal is to explore concrete opportunities for business and investment between Portugal and the Greater Kansas City region, and to encourage open exchange between companies and institutions from both sides. 

We are also pleased to confirm the participation of Ambassador Allan Katz, former U.S. Ambassador to Portugal and a key voice in U.S.-Portugal relations.
